So continuing on with my fascination with the modern world’s fascination with itself I decided that I wanted to try PODCASTING. I love listening to podcasts, Neil Degrasse Tyson and Seth Shostack/Molly Bentley are particular favorites, and I love video podcasts as well. Like a lot of the kids I watch VLOGs about mand diverse topics. Some of the ones I have come across are marginal at best with lack luster hosts talking about things that seemed initially interesting but lose you in the second sentence. Then there is the prevalent underlying topic, the one that everyone (especially teenage girls) seem interested in discussing.
Themselves. What they think about politics, society, school, teachers, their parents, their friends, their friends clothes, their friends clothes, their friends shoes. The scintillating topic just goes on and on and on. They never get bored with talking about themselves. What is even more amazing is looking at the number of views they all have on YOUTUBE, it seems that there are other people in the world who find what they have to say interesting.
I have a pal who ever since I made the transition to MAC likes to spend my money. I say this because even when I don’t have any money he sends me links to MAC specific software bundles and specials that he knows I will have a hard time resisting. I have gotten a lot of cool stuff because of him, and often had to eat Ramen for a week or two after I do. I mention this chum because in one of the bundle deals he sent me I got a copy of BOINXTV , a dedicated podcast suite of tools. I had just moved into my (temporary) studio in Redwood City so I thought I would document the new digs with my own first slash at Podcasting.
I enjoyed the experience and the software in question was simple to use and fully featured to border on overwhelming by way of possibilities. I love talking, as all my friends will tell you, and talking to a camera is a lot easier than it used to be. Like most Americans of my generation I have some serious body image issues but when I am talking about things I love the words just pour out like effluvia from an aquifer. As a side note I talk about that old Keystone 8mm Camera I mentioned in an earlier posting.
I haven’t done another one since, I guess I need to wear more revealing clothing to get more traffic, but writing about it has got me thinking about it once more, with some differences.
